Nobody can answer the phone every single time. If you want to attract work, you better answer the phone. If you call people back 30 seconds after they call you, they will might not be able to answer themselves because they won’t want to interrupt the message they are leaving for you. Did you ever think about that? On the other hand, if they didn’t leave a message, they are calling the next notary on their list. It’s far preferable to have your phone handy no matter where you are and answer as if your life depends on it — your career in fact does depend on it.

Took 45 seconds for the chick in the cube next to me to realize she was talking to an answering machine. .
My lawyer has an answering machine, where, as my lawyer friend has a secretary. The two are not at the time. The secrectary given some alternatives, past the message was just seem less enjoyable. Mine had an experience perhaps thinking that this is not a good lawyer.
It does not indicate his competency. It may indicate his prosperity - not interdependant in law.
Be sure your attorney has enough experience to properly represent you. Perhaps you have lower fees because he doesn't have that overhead.
